MASTERWORK SOP v1.0

Program: Masterwork Program

Derived From: ARC Canon v1.0 (Frozen) + Control Schema v1.0

Status: ACTIVE

Change Policy: FROZEN (Amendment Protocol applies)

Primary Output: MasterAsset (Activated)

Program Owner: Assigned ProgramOwner

Criticality: SYSTEM-CRITICAL (Pipeline Root)

0. SOP PROCESS CHAIN (AUTHORITATIVE)

Intake → Capture → Verification → Master Creation → Metadata Lock → Archival Packaging → State Promotion → Activation → Audit Closure

If any link breaks, the chain halts.

1. ENTRY CONDITIONS (INTAKE GATE)

1.1 Preconditions (ALL REQUIRED)

• Physical artwork is received and logged

• Artist identity verified

• Ownership / authority to digitize confirmed

• ERA assigned (default: current active Era)

• Masterwork Program is active

1.2 System Objects Created

• PhysicalWork

• Person (artist, if not existing)

• ProgramRun (Masterwork)

1.3 Intake Checklist (Operator)

• Confirm physical condition (document damage)

• Record medium, dimensions, surface characteristics

• Photograph intake condition (reference only)

• Assign internal tracking ID

FAILURE MODE:

If ownership or authority is unclear → STOP → escalate to RightsManager.

2. CAPTURE STAGE (PHYSICAL → DIGITAL ACQUISITION)

2.1 Capture Session Setup

Required Objects

• CaptureSession

• Calibration profile

• Equipment manifest

Environmental Requirements

• Controlled lighting (neutral, calibrated)

• Cross-polarization (if applicable)

• Stable mounting and alignment

• Zero ambient contamination

2.2 Capture Execution Checklist

• Calibrate camera and lights

• Capture gray/neutral reference

• Capture full-resolution master frames

• Perform focus and exposure verification

• Record capture parameters

2.3 Capture Session Validation

• Sharpness confirmed edge-to-edge

• No clipping in highlights or shadows

• Apparent color neutrality validated

• File integrity verified

Output

• Raw capture files

• CaptureSession marked pass or fail

FAILURE MODE

• If fail: recapture required

• No downstream processing allowed

3. MASTER CREATION STAGE (DIGITAL NEGATIVE)

3.1 Master Assembly

Actions

• Select highest-fidelity capture

• Perform non-destructive corrections only

• No aesthetic interpretation

• No cropping beyond physical bounds

3.2 MasterAsset Creation

System Actions

• Create MasterAsset

• Assign state = Captured

• Generate fingerprint_hash

• Link CaptureSession

• Link PhysicalWork

• Assign era_id

3.3 Verification Gate

• Visual inspection (100% zoom)

• Compare against physical reference

• Confirm no retouching artifacts

• Confirm no creative grading

FAILURE MODE

• Any aesthetic manipulation → REJECT → rebuild master

4. METADATA CORE CREATION (GOVERNANCE LAYER)

4.1 Metadata Population (REQUIRED FIELDS)

• Authorship block

• Capture conditions

• Technical specifications

• Rights baseline (preliminary)

• Edition intent (if known)

• Jurisdiction (if applicable)

4.2 Metadata Validation Rules

• All required fields populated

• Metadata version set to 1

• No free-text overrides of governed fields

4.3 Lock MetadataCore

• Create MetadataCore

• Link to MasterAsset

RULE

Metadata governs everything downstream.

Incomplete metadata = system deadlock.

5. ARCHIVAL PACKAGING (DURABILITY LAYER)

5.1 ArchivePackage Creation

Contents

• Master file (unaltered)

• Reference preview derivative

• Metadata snapshot

• Capture documentation

5.2 Storage Requirements

• Primary storage

• Redundant backup

• Cold/archive tier

5.3 Integrity Validation

• Generate checksums

• Verify checksum consistency across locations

• Perform restore test

5.4 Archive Approval Gate

• restore_test_status = pass

• Retention policy assigned

FAILURE MODE

• Any checksum mismatch → STOP → rebuild archive

6. STATE TRANSITION: CAPTURED → MASTERED

6.1 Preconditions

• ArchivePackage complete

• MetadataCore v1 locked

• CaptureSession passed

6.2 System Action

• Transition MasterAsset.state = Mastered

• Emit AuditEvent

NOTE

This is the point of no return.

Mastered assets become authoritative history.

7. POLICY VALIDATION (ACTIVATION GATE)

7.1 Required Policies

• RightsProfile

• EditionPolicy

• UsagePolicy

• Era RuleSet validation

• EconomicProfile compatibility

7.2 Validation Checklist

• Rights scope defined

• No conflict with Era rules

• Scarcity axes mapped

• No retroactive privileges

FAILURE MODE

• Policy conflict → STOP → escalate to Architect

8. STATE TRANSITION: MASTERED → ACTIVATED

8.1 Activation Conditions

• At least one Utility defined OR

• Explicit archival-only designation

8.2 System Action

• Transition MasterAsset.state = Activated

• Register baseline Utility (even if locked)

• Emit AuditEvent

RESULT

The MasterAsset is now economically and narratively live.

9. OPTIONAL DERIVATIVE GENERATION (POST-ACTIVATION ONLY)

9.1 Allowed Derivatives

• Canonical preview

• Print-ready files

• Web display assets

9.2 Rules

• Derivatives inherit provenance

• No derivative replaces Master

• All derivatives logged

10. AUDIT CLOSURE & PROGRAM RUN COMPLETION

10.1 Mandatory Audit Events

• Physical intake

• CaptureSession completion

• MasterAsset creation

• MetadataCore creation

• ArchivePackage creation

• State transitions

• Activation

10.2 ProgramRun Closure

• ProgramRun.state = completed

• Link all outputs

• Exception report attached (if any)

11. EXCEPTION HANDLING (STRICT)

11.1 Exception Types

• Technical failure

• Policy conflict

• Rights ambiguity

• Archive integrity failure

11.2 Exception Protocol

• Pause ProgramRun

• Log incident

• Assign owner

• No silent fixes

12. NON-NEGOTIABLE RULES (DRIFT PREVENTION)

1. No Master without Archive

2. No Activation without Policy

3. No Distribution without Activation

4. No manual state edits

5. No aesthetic changes at Master stage

6. No undocumented exceptions

Violation = systemic risk.

13. SOP TERMINAL CONDITION

The Masterwork SOP is considered successfully executed when:

• MasterAsset.state = Activated

• ArchivePackage validated

• MetadataCore locked

• Audit trail complete

• ProgramRun closed

At this point, all downstream programs may proceed.

DECLARATION

MASTERWORK SOP v1.0 is hereby declared ACTIVE and FROZEN.

All MasterAssets entering ARC must pass through this procedure or be considered non-canonical.
