RIGHTS & EDITION SOP v1.0

Program: Rights & Edition Governance

Derived From: ARC Canon v1.0 (Frozen)

Status: ACTIVE

Change Policy: FROZEN (Amendment Protocol only)

Entry Point: MasterAsset.state = Activated

Primary Outputs: RightsProfile, EditionPolicy, Utilities, Licenses

Criticality: SYSTEM-GOVERNING (ECONOMIC & LEGAL ROOT)

0. SOP PROCESS CHAIN (AUTHORITATIVE)

Activation → Rights Definition → Edition Architecture → Scarcity Mapping → Utility Binding → Validation → Lock → Issuance Enablement → Audit Closure

No step may be skipped. No step may be merged.

1. ENTRY CONDITIONS (ACTIVATION GATE)

1.1 Required Preconditions

• MasterAsset.state = Activated

• MetadataCore v1 locked

• Era active and not closed

• EconomicProfile assigned to Era

1.2 Disallowed Conditions

• Retroactive rights creation

• Rights assignment prior to activation

• Edition issuance without rights definition

RULE:

Rights and editions are defined once and referenced forever.

2. RIGHTS PROFILE CREATION (AUTHORITY LAYER)

2.1 Rights Profile Definition

Create a RightsProfile object linked to the MasterAsset.

Required Fields

• rights_profile_id

• master_id

• copyright_holder

• moral_rights_holder

• exclusive_rights_holder (if applicable)

• retained_rights[]

• delegated_rights[]

• transferability (allowed / restricted / prohibited)

• default_license_scope

• jurisdiction

• effective_at

2.2 Rights Categories (CANONICAL)

Each MasterAsset must explicitly define YES / NO for each category:

1. Display Rights

• Physical

• Digital

• Public / Private

2. Reproduction Rights

• Print

• Digital

• Mechanical / Media

3. Derivative Rights

• Cropping

• Licensing

• Royalties

5. Governance Rights

• Voting

• Curation influence

• Era participation

RULE:

Undefined = denied.

2.3 Rights Validation Gate

• Rights do not conflict with Era RuleSet

• Rights do not exceed artist authority

• Rights align with declared jurisdiction

FAILURE MODE

• Conflict → STOP → escalate to RightsManager + Architect

3. EDITION POLICY CREATION (SCARCITY LAYER)

3.1 Edition Policy Definition

Create an EditionPolicy object per MasterAsset.

Required Fields

• edition_policy_id

• master_id

• physical_editions[]

• digital_editions[]

• edition_limits

• edition_naming_schema

• edition_state_model

• issue_rules

3.2 Canonical Edition Types

A) Physical Editions

• Open Edition

• Limited Edition

• Master Edition (rare, restricted)

Required Attributes

• Maximum quantity

• Format constraints

• Size constraints

• Paper/material tiers

• Signature requirements (if any)

B) Digital Editions

• Open Digital Access

3.3 Edition State Model (MANDATORY)

Each edition unit must track:

• Issued

• Reserved

• Sold

• Active

• Retired

• Burned (digital only)

RULE:

Edition counts decrement on issuance, not sale.

4. SCARCITY AXIS MAPPING (ECONOMIC INTEGRITY)

Each EditionPolicy must explicitly map to at least one scarcity axis:

4.1 Axis Declaration

• Physical Scarcity

• Digital Scarcity

• Temporal Scarcity

4.2 Temporal Scarcity Rules

If time-based:

• Define unlock time

• Define expiry (if any)

• Define post-expiry behavior

RULE:

Time-based rights cannot be paused, extended, or accelerated post-issuance.

5. UTILITY BINDING (FUNCTIONAL VALUE)

5.1 Utility Definition

For each EditionPolicy, define one or more Utility objects.

Utility Types

• Display access

• Licensing eligibility

• Revenue participation

• Governance participation

• Content access

• Future unlocks

5.2 Utility Binding Rules

• Utilities reference EditionPolicy

• Utilities reference Era

• Utilities define unlock conditions

RULE:

Utilities cannot exist without an EditionPolicy.

6. PRICING SNAPSHOT (NON-MUTABLE)

6.1 Pricing Definition

At issuance enablement, create a Pricing Snapshot:

• Base price

• Scarcity multipliers

• Era modifiers

• Currency

• Timestamp

6.2 Pricing Rules

• Pricing snapshots are immutable

• Future price changes require new issuance tranche

RULE:

No retroactive repricing.

7. VALIDATION & LOCKING (POINT OF NO RETURN)

7.1 Pre-Issuance Validation Checklist

• RightsProfile complete

• EditionPolicy complete

• Utilities defined

• Scarcity axes mapped

• Era rules satisfied

• Pricing snapshot created

7.2 Lock Actions

• Lock RightsProfile

• Lock EditionPolicy

• Emit AuditEvent

• Mark issuance as enabled

RESULT

The MasterAsset is now legally and economically operable.

8. ISSUANCE ENABLEMENT (CONTROLLED OUTPUT)

8.1 Allowed Issuance Channels

• Internal marketplace

• Partner platform

• Licensing desk

• Smart TV gallery (if enabled)

8.2 Issuance Rules

• Issuance consumes edition quantity

• Issuance logs AuditEvent

• Issuance binds Utility to holder

FAILURE MODE

• Issuance without lock → INVALID → roll back and flag incident

9. LICENSE CREATION (DOWNSTREAM PERMISSION)

Licenses are derived, never primary.

9.1 License Preconditions

• RightsProfile permits license scope

• EditionPolicy allows licensing

• Utility unlock condition satisfied

9.2 License Binding

• License references MasterAsset

• License references Edition (if applicable)

• License references Utility

RULE:

No license may exceed the RightsProfile.

10. AUDIT & COMPLIANCE (NON-OPTIONAL)

10.1 Mandatory Audit Events

• Issuance events

• License issuance / revocation

10.2 Compliance Review

• Rights drift detection

• Edition over-issuance detection

• Utility misuse detection

11. EXCEPTION HANDLING

11.1 Allowed Exceptions

• Jurisdictional correction (pre-issuance only)

• Artist legal correction (documented)

11.2 Disallowed Exceptions

• Retroactive rights expansion

• Edition quantity increase

• Utility reassignment post-issuance

Violation = breach of system integrity.

12. TERMINAL CONDITION

The SOP is successfully executed when:

• RightsProfile locked

• EditionPolicy locked

• Utilities bound

• Issuance enabled

• Audit trail complete

At this point, commercial and cultural activity may proceed safely.
